Drinking excessive amounts of soda exposes the teeth to large amounts of acid, just as illegal drugs do. Researchers say that diet soda is just as bad for tooth enamel as regular due to the citric acid content. To keep your smile bright, cut back on soda. And meth. And crack

Any device requires an input medium, but not this Communication gadget designed by Marat Kudryavtsev. This beautiful device projects a virtual monitor screen and a virtual keyboard which solves the input and display purpose for your computer. The device simply hooks onto an ISQ server and projects the images onto a plane surface. A slim baton that does it all

Even when fed a diet of junk food, mice who were treated with the compound ShK-186 reduced weight gain, cholesterol, blood sugar, and white fat. Researchers think that ShK-186 activate brown fat cells, which burn calories.

Of course, pouring beer is not the primary objective for the robot. It is learning how to help humans with daily living tasks. The robot assesses what items are in the room and what actions are possible. Through monitoring human behavior, the robot is able to predict what humans need and learn the cues to decide when they need it.

Schizophrenia has a variety of causes and a spectrum of severity of symptoms.

Schizophrenia has a variety of causes and a spectrum of severity of symptoms. Geneticists were able to cause schizophrenia-like symptoms by overexpressing Neuregulin-1 (NRG1). Scientists discovered that these mice not only had nearly the same symptoms as humans with schizophrenia, but they even develop the symptoms at the same stage in life. Geneticists have been able to modify the expression of NRG1 in adult mice, bringing it down to appropriate levels. This caused schizophrenia-like symptoms in these mice to disappear and behavior returned to normal

CD47 is a protein involved with cell apoptosis and proliferation, among other things. Cancer cells have essentially hid behind it when avoiding cell death. Scientists at Stanford have found a way to use anti-CD47 antibodies to allow the cancerous cells to be eaten by macrophages.

Atheism is not a religion is an ability.

Atheism is not a religion is an ability. Is an ability to understand life, to understand yourself and to question the meaning of everything that surrounds you.

It's called sonoluminescence.

It's called sonoluminescence. No one knows exactly why this occurs, but there are a lot of different hypotheses. One of the most common explanations is that when the bubble collapses, the air inside gets pressurized. Increasing the pressure on a gas increases the temperature of the gas. During sonoluminescence, the temperature inside the tiny bubbles becomes so great that the gas begins to glow.
Another hypothesis is that the collapsing bubble lends energy to prolong the life of the otherwise quickly annihilating photons that are spontaneously generated in a vacuum. Sonoluminescence could also be the product of the way photons can pop into and out of existence; the sudden collapse of the bubble making the photons noticeable to those in the macro world.

The medication was originally intended to treat T cell lymphoma, but has been shown to restore memory in mice. Soluble amyloid beta levels decreased as well. These results have been replicated, and are very encouraging.

However, the original paper claims that 75% of plaque could be removed within 3 weeks for mice with a certain genetic predisposition to Alzheimer's disease, though those results have not yet been replicated by independent labs.

Scientists at Northeastern University and MIT devised a graphical approach that first derives the mathematical equations describing a complex system's dynamics, and then determines the key sensors for that system. Moreover, when applying their approach to biochemical reaction systems, the researchers discovered that the derived sensors were both necessary and sufficient to describe the complete system.

Heinrich Rohrer died last week.

Heinrich Rohrer died last week. He shared a Nobel in Physics for inventing a microscope that made it possible to see individual atoms and move them around. This helped create the science of nanotechnology -- and gave scientists the ability to image, measure and manipulate atoms for the first time, with huge possibilities for the improvement of our world. It also allowed for the making of this cool video. We all owe thanks to Dr. Rohrer and his family, so THANK YOU, SIR!

True?

True?
So... 2^(1/n) is irrational for n≥ 3.
Proof (Schultz, 2003): assume 2^(1/n)= p/q; then p^n= q^n + q^n
is this contradicting Fermat's Last Theorem?
