Callisto is the eighth moon of Jupiter and the second largest of the planet’s known satellites.


Callisto is the eighth moon of Jupiter and the second largest of the planet’s known satellites. It is the third largest moon in the solar system and is similar in size to the planet Mercury.

It orbits just beyond Jupiter’s main radiation belt and is the outermost of the Galilean moons.

Callisto is among the string of first names given to my daughter -- partly because she was born the year a comet impacted Jupiter -- btw last time I evoked her on a thread of yours she was just about to pass or awaiting results of 1st year med school exams and now she's started 4th year -- time flies.
