I remember we stayed in a few castles, or annexes of them in Northumberland when I was younger (as in teenager). Cottages are also interesting places to stay, out in the middle of nowhere. Can be a bit cold, but they often have log fires as well. Plenty of old castles in England and Scotland

ReplyDeleteRomantic, and cold. It's impossible to heat the whole thing, so you just close off most of it, and try and keep a small corner of the place warm.
