There are valleys on Mars that were created by water. Though the fact that liquid water existed on Mars isn't exactly news, it was never determined if the water came from below or above through precipitation.
Computer modeling suggests that it is entirely possible that the valleys could have been carved by falling and melting snow. This study could give deeper information as to what weather was like on Mars nearly 4 billion years ago.
