Blue Blooded Arthropods
Many arthropods have a copper-based oxygen carrying molecule known as haemocyanin, instead of the iron-based haemoglobin in mammals. When oxygenated, they appear a blue-green colour.
Haemocyanins are found unbound to blood cells, and are instead directly suspended in the haemolymph, the circulatory fluid in arthropods.
