Cute Spidy

Cute Spidy
Perhaps the cutest baby jumping spider I have seen so far :)
Jumping spiders contain over 5,000 species making Salticidae the largest of the spider families. They are widely distributed over the planet and can even be found up mount Everest. The jumping spiders are aptly named as they can spring more than 50 times their own body length to land on unsuspecting prey. They hunt actively rather than catching prey in a web and they have excellent vision.

  3. Sort of offsets the part about "jumping spiders" and "largest of the spider families... widely distributed over the planet".

  4. I'm so happy that I have two little European Garden spiders making new webs today. I harvested about 30 of them from a friends farmers market. I released them into my herb garden and they all left me. I was so sad. Then yesterday I found two had remained. They found some good spots to build some nice webs. Now I'm desperately looking for flying insects to get trapped in their webs so they fatten up quickly. I need them to keep the pests under control. They make a noticeable difference when I have them around. Mother nature kicks ass!
