Remember before Google? I used Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos. Though the world wide web was less interesting and slooow back then, mostly on closed networks like AOL and CompuServe
Sam Collett Heck I remember BBSs! Then someone suggested I connect my BBS to this internet thing. I was like, Why?! Then Netscape 1.0 came along and I was hooked.
Slow? Boy you don't know slow. I had a Radio Shack 300 baud modem. I could type faster than it could send the characters. Many times I had to wait for it to catch up or I would end up freezing it up with a buffer overflow. Then I got my hands on a 1200 baud! Now I'm cooking! I couldn't wait for the price of the Zoom 2400 baud modems to come down.
I never subscribed to AOL or CompuServe. I was a hard core hacker with access to alt.files and IRC.
