It doesn’t matter if the planet is still creating oil or not, because even if it were, it’s not creating it as fast as we are consuming it.   Oil field decline rates are real.  Oil fields are not filling up with newly created oil as fast as we can pull it out.   And don’t forget that burning fossil fuels pollutes the air and damages health.

I am not sure of the relevance of the name "fossil fuel" to the issue of continued use of oil as a fuel.  I do believe that the vast majority of oil on earth is of biological origin but regardless of where is originated we can't keep burning it.  We are already well down the road of massive climate change from introducing so much CO2 into the atmosphere so it makes little sense to continue to do so.

    In addition, as Carolyn Luce explains, the earth is not creating oil at the rate we are using it.  The US military, hardly a bastion of tree huggers or anti oil lobby, says we have passed peak oil, and they are the largest user of oil on earth.
