‘Floating Piers’ on Lake Iseo
These four images from the Sentinel-2A satellite show Lake Iseo in northern Italy – the site of the ‘Floating Piers’ installation by the Bulgarian–American artist, Christo.
The first image from 19 April shows the lake’s Monte Isola (island), but as time progresses the floating dock takes form and, in the final image from 21 June, is covered with yellow fabric. The walkway is about 16 m wide.
The installation allows visitors to ‘walk on water’ from the lakes eastern shore to two islands.
Visiting the piers is free and accessible 24 hours a day, weather permitting, until 3 July 2016.

When you first look at it, it could be a route you planned using Google Maps/Earth
ReplyDeleteI think it's a really nice spot to see..
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see more things like this, art on a grand scale, visible from space. You can see the component parts in the south east pier too
