2016 Sets Global Temperature Record

2016 Sets Global Temperature Record
2016 was hotter than 2015, the previous record. And 2015 hotter than 2014, the previous record year.

These record temperatures are all part of a warming trend that dates back to the late-19th century, largely caused by human emissions of carbon dioxide and other gases into the atmosphere.

  2. Owen Iverson This reminds me of the rarely held discussion about the actual size of a tweet, which nowadays gets enriched by a multiple dozen of entities regarding the narrator of a tweet (https://dev.twitter.com/overview/api/entities-in-twitter-objects).

Regarding data centers, the waste of energy is extremely big and constantly growing. But since energy comes from the socket-outlet and internet is like dropping a scribbled note to someone elses display or like reading newspaper with lots of ads, only a minority is aware of their own part in wasting global energy. See, 10 minutes for writing this post on my computer, another minute for each of you to read it, hundreds of servers exchanging the message, registering it, scanning, extracting metadata. Meanwhile G+ checks for updates, music is being streamed.

Internet has been declared as a human right by UNHCR. What a pity they forgot to note it should be green.
