May 25 is reserved to Star Wars
On this day 40 years ago, filmgoers were introduced to the events of a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Star Wars premiered in the US on 25 May 1977. The space opera written and directed by George Lucas became a smash hit in the US and around the world. The torrent of prequels, sequels, and spin-offs continues this year: Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in December.

ReplyDeleteI preferred the originals to the 'reboot' in some ways, the new Rogue One was interesting, made me want to know a bit more about the blind Jedi and the story being him.
ReplyDeleteI suppose one issue with the 'filler' episodes, is characters that are never mentioned in the original, even though they come across as pretty important. Also the technology in I to III seemed more high tech (the chromium starship and the lightsabers in particular) than IV - VI. That's a bit of 'nit picking' though.
I like the fact you have tagged this in 'History' - it was in a galaxy far far away a long time ago after all. :)
ReplyDeleteI like the originals too...even if they seem a bit funny now ;)
ReplyDeleteThe Star Wars Universe does have a lot of potential still. Although I would like to see some more 'epic' sci-fi franchises. Some books can get quite complex and dark, though that is how I like them
ReplyDeleteMay 25th is towel day and also my daughters birthday.
ReplyDeleteSo no, May 25th is reserved to hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy. (And for me my daughter, but she's first (for me( don't know why anyone else would care ( besides my wife (and rest if family))))).
