An open letter from AI researchers, technologists, scientists, and roboticists calls for a ban on "offensive autonomous weapons." Among the signers are Elon Musk, Demis Hassabis, Stephen Hawking, and Steve Wozniak. The letter acknowledges that artificial intelligences can make battlefields safer for humans but warns that the could lead to an uncontrollable arms race of military AI.

  1. Drones with built in AI could be dangerous indeed. I dread to think what would happen if (when?) military AI was compromised

  4. Sam, your fears are well based, consider all the movies made about this , i.e. Terminator ( hey it's one of the best!). Now mix that with all the serious breachs of cyber security of late like the government OPM and health insurance -Anthem and we could have a high problem if some good old fashioned wisdom doesn't sneak in or be found by accident

  6. I don't think this can be stopped. Slowed down perhaps. It just seems to be part of (human) evolution.
