23 April is reserved to Max Planck
Max Karl Ernst Ludwig Planck was born in Kiel, Germany, on April 23, 1858.
Planck's earliest work was on the subject of thermodynamics, an interest he acquired from his studies under Kirchhoff, whom he greatly admired, and very considerably from reading R. Clausius' publications. He published papers on entropy, on thermoelectricity and on the theory of dilute solutions.
Planck made many contributions to theoretical physics, but his fame as a physicist rests primarily on his role as an originator of quantum theory, which revolutionized human understanding of atomic and subatomic processes. His work on quantum theory won him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.

It's also my daughter's birthday. But to stay with Planck, a fun thing is the self-referential suggestion contained in Max Planck's name that the diverse Planck's constants are the floor values of max functions of physical dimensions. French makes this clear, as plancher is French for floor.
ReplyDeleteIllustrative application: it's observable that provided Allah has an incomparable sense of self-derision (not like some of His followers) then Allah's size is Planck's length. Planck's length is the least size possible to anything with a physical size, and having a physical size is a precondition to being larger than anything comparable (which in turn, in the case of Allah, is nothing, since nothing compares to Allah).
A hint of that is given by the sound of the Arabic for this property of Allah to be at once incomparable and largest: Allah is ħ
ħ to be exact doesn't by the standards denote Planck's length but rather Planck's rectified constant; which is like Planck's length a lower limit to physical plausibility but as concerns spin rather than length. This warns of a slightest tendency to hyperbole and spin when inferring Allah's absolute scale from His true and simultaneous properties of being largest and incomparable.
In the end, though, recognizing Allah's true size provides an interpretation of His will that's autonomous from the standard text, since Allah's will is named "Inch Allah" which reads as the number obtained by measuring an imperial inch in units of Planck's length.
That number being the ratio of two lengths is dimensionless, and its value is
1.57 10^33
which in turn can be parsed by associating the arabic digits to the latin capitals they best mimic for the purpose of reading left to right.
1.57
I.ST
-- IST the third person singular indicative present of "to be" in German.
10
IO -- the acronym for "input output"
33
BB -- my initials
Happy Belated B-day to your daughter, Boris!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Corina. Typical of med students, she is busy preparing exams - finals for the bachelor now, and then a couple months as trainee then touring abroad. Doing well.
ReplyDeleteGreat.... My Salute....
