ReplyDeleteFew practices have contributed more to the dumbing down of Americans , than the almost exclusive use of 'Einstein' iconography (unruly white hair, mustache)as a metaphor for high intelligence
;from films like 'Back to the Future', and cartoons like the 'Flintstones' to the seemingly harmless yet ubiquitous use of Einstein's likeness in math and science textbooks for children and young adults.
Einstein iconography can be inspiring and confident building for children who look or identify with the famous physicist (in some essential way) and demoralizing and diffident inducing for children who don't.
