All the glory to the BELOUSOV-ZHABOTINSKY reaction =)

All the glory to the BELOUSOV-ZHABOTINSKY reaction =)
The Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction is an "oscillating chemical reaction" during which "transition-metal ions catalyze oxidation of various, usually organic, reductants by bromic acid in acidic water solution," making it possible to "observe development of complex patterns in time and space by naked eye."

  1. And probably from this type of reactions - synchronizing genetic regulators - many animals get their skin/fur strip patterns...

  2. I understand now the generation of some patterns in agatha stones.
