Artist’s logarithmic scale conception of the observable universe with the Solar System at the center, inner and outer planets, Kuiper belt, Oort cloud, Alpha Centauri, Perseus Arm, Milky Way galaxy, Andromeda galaxy, nearby galaxies, Cosmic Web, Cosmic microwave radiation and Big Bang’s invisible plasma on the edge.

  1. It's a simple idea but visually novel. Two features stood out for me. The log scale distortion of the immediate arm of milky Vs the rest of it and the outer peripheral web-like ring. Both features remind me of non-Euclidean space geometries and fractals: http://plus.maths.org/content/non-euclidean-geometry-and-indras-pearls

  2. Hmm, our universe appears to be developing a cataract... Which is a rather belated development given an age of 14 billion years. Who can really say though in universe years? :)

  3. Ummmm... since the Universe is 14 billion years old and Earth is 4.5 billion years old...no mention I and you, Sean Walker , have like what..?!? 75 years summed together  on this planet only...is kinda premature to assume we know stuff about Universe...since we are basically insignificant =)
BTW do not forget ..we don't see things as they are, we see them as we are, therefore I do hope you don't have cataract =))

  4. 13.82 billion but who’s counting… right?
And, we are of course talking this Blink-of-an-Eye Big Bang Bubble we are living in… Damn I so want to know what was there before…
