People are afraid to be who they really are and want to be someone else, or be famous and rich, just for the sake of being so. Following the crowd rather than travelling their own path
Minds full of cotton, of God and country... It always blows my mind how prevalent this alien mindset is in America today. It's almost an indictment of freedom...
Liviu Frisenström I don't buy that oppression angle. People are free to make their choices and they opt to be ignorant, stupid, bored and nationalistic etc. People often look for an external agent to explain the negative conditions of their lives, because they feel it elevates them from personal responsibility for the status quo their decisions had lead them to.
99% of my values identify me as a big liberal, but victim complex thinking (the external locus of control mentality) is something that alienates me from liberaldom. People have so many choices and unfortunately so often they make intellectually lazy weak willed ones. It's a monumental Greek tragedy.
I wont go on and on (any more than I have already! lol) But there is another scale of the problem I want to mention before concluding my diatribe. ;) It isn't just our personal issues that people have shirked responsibility for, it's also our big societal problems - such as the moronic state of the media, political discourse and the shitty state of the education system. Collectively we are the problem because we set the bar so low by demanding so little of ourselves and others.
Russell Hough to make a long story short because I do value my time..... You take what's valuable from others and adjust to yourself, or at least you use it as a reference. If you don't find anything interesting or is not compatible with your views just move on to something that do has a meaning for you and is compatible with your views.
We create the reality of our lives everyday. No one is preordained to suffer, or thrive. Your choice. It's just most people have ceded their choice (reality) to others.
yep. Agreed. Btw, r.i.p. Pillip S. Hoffman. He threw it all away.
ReplyDeleteFew have said it better.

ReplyDeleteYes, do we have a plan to correct the situation?
ReplyDeleteYeah...people need to start using their brain Mindey I.
ReplyDelete..go ahead and start working on that left lobe extension ;)
Corina Marinescu Yes, right right... You mentioned the imminent need of it. It's a good plan, but needs to be broken down into a good task hierarchy.
ReplyDelete"I have a Plan."
