Project Soli

Project Soli
A new endeavor from Google's Advanced Technology and Projects sector hopes to revolutionize how we interact with technology. Called Project Soli, the new venture introduced by the lab uses radar to detect hand movements and finger "micromotions" to control everything from the volume controls on a stereo to a device's on-off switch.

  1. My first thought was, I hope they don't do this sort of thing with romantic intimacy and call it an advance... Imagine how much fun it would be standing facing one another and pantomiming a passionate moment! ;)
Like anything, I'm sure I would get used to a revolutionized interface like this, but at first it would be weird interacting with devices in this way. Some part of my brain would be thinking "Oh come on, I'm gesturing like there's a knob, so just put one there!"...
And no, I don't miss the cords hanging from phones. Although analog dials were way cool.
