After losing some of his fingers in a carpentry accident, Richard Van As of South Africa began to research prosthetics. When the price tag was too steep, he decided to make a cost effective alternative. He partnered with puppeteer Ivan Owen and developed a prosthetic hand that can be downloaded and printed on a 3-D printer. The best part? The parts only cost about $150 ;)
