Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you. ~ Diana Princess of Wales (July 1, 1961 - August 31, 1997) ~
Isn't there a contradiction between "no expectation of reward" and "safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you"? Just nitpicking... the quote is great.
I have to concur with Cristian, the quote to be of the greatest value should end with: "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward." The reward, in the form of personal self-satisfaction, comes in knowing you are capable of giving without expectation.
Perhaps the idea behind the second part of the quote is that if you are kind to someone, they will also be kind to others, which will then repeat, eventually coming back to you, continuing the cycle ad infinitum
Certainly what I try to do. There is never a valid reason to be unkind
