Iridodonesis is the trembling (shaking) of the iris of the eye when the eye is moved. It is caused by lack of support (of the iris) by the lens, against which the iris normally lies. This may happen if the lens is absent or not in its normal location.

Very good post.....I'm a student of MBBS,part1.never a patient with iridodonesis,.....thank u
ReplyDeleteDoes this condition also bestow on a person an underwater garbled sound? ;)
ReplyDeleteThat would be so frustrating!!
ReplyDeleteOh ick, I'd be so annoyed but I suppose blindness would be the individual's biggest worry. I mean, the lens missing or detached? You wouldn't see well and it probably hurts too.
ReplyDeleteVideo by the Slo Mo Guys showing the effect nicely with a high speed camera.

Gives me a vaguely bird-like impression. Perhaps that's just because 'dodo' occurs in 'iridodonesis'.
ReplyDeleteThe "not in its normal location" lens issue is interesting in its own right.
